Kevin Frey is a director, creative producer, and movement-driven storyteller whose work lives at the intersection of choreography, live performance, and visual storytelling. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Kevin began training in dance at the age of 10, studying hip hop, contemporary, tap, jazz, and ballet. After years of competition and company work within the Southern California dance community, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a professional career in the entertainment industry. Over more than a decade in the industry, Kevin built an extensive performance career working with leading choreographers including Richard Jackson, Mandy Moore, Brian Friedman, Tyce Diorio, Hi-Hat, Kathryn Burns, Liz Imperio, Chucky Klapow, and Danny Teeson. He has also collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Kenny Ortega, Squared Division, Robert Rodriguez, and Joseph Kahn. Kevin’s performance credits include work with major recording artists including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, J-Balvin, JoJo Siwa, Bebe Rexha, Blake Shelton, Jonas Blue, and Idina Menzel. Most notably, he spent nearly a decade performing alongside Lady Gaga, appearing on three world tours—The Born This Way Ball, ArtRave: The Artpop Ball, and the Joanne World Tour—as well as her Las Vegas residency Enigma. His work with Gaga also included performances at Coachella, the Super Bowl LI Halftime Show, the Met Gala red carpet, and numerous music videos and televised performances.
His work spans television, film, and live entertainment, including appearances on the MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, The Voice, America’s Got Talent, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and The Late Show with David Letterman. Film and television credits include Netflix’s #RealityHigh, Valley Girl, Gaga: Five Foot Two, and Disney+’s Earth to Ned, as well as work in the digital entertainment space including the global video game phenomenon Fortnite.
Most recently, Kevin served as Creative Coordinator on Netflix’s Star Search, working closely with Creative Director Fatima Robinson and the creative team to support the development and execution of large-scale performances for the series. In this role, he helped build the creative systems, communication pipelines, and production structures that allowed ambitious ideas to translate seamlessly from rehearsal to stage. Alongside his performance career, Kevin has developed a strong voice as a choreographer, educator, and creative collaborator. His choreography and creative work have appeared on So You Think You Can Dance, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, Spain’s Fama A Bailar, Dancing with the Stars China, and the feature film Heartbeats directed by Duane Adler. Kevin has also spent nearly two decades as an educator, teaching at dance studios, professional training programs, and conventions across the United States and internationally. Known for his engaging and inspiring teaching style, he encourages dancers to approach their craft with both artistic curiosity and personal responsibility—empowering them to become the authors of their own creative journey. Today, Kevin continues to expand his work as a director and creative collaborator while mentoring the next generation of artists through 1:1 Dance Consult, a platform dedicated to helping dancers and creatives navigate the industry with clarity, strategy, and confidence.
